DESCRIPTION:5th Annual Spring Flowers \nInternational Conference on Myanmar \nFebruary 11-14\, 2026 \nIn conjunction with \na celebration of Myanmar Union Day \nFebruary 14\, 2026 \nIn an effort to support peace and democracy in Myanmar (Burma)\, the Burmese American Community Institute (BACI) in partnership with co-host and collaborators\, will be hosting the 5th Spring Flowers International Conference on Myanmar from February 11 to 14\, 2026. The conference will bring together local\, national\, and international actors from diverse backgrounds. Its outcome will play a critical role in shaping the strategic direction and vision of the future of Myanmar as we contribute to building a democratic and federal Union of Myanmar. The conference objectives are: \nConference objectives: \n\nPromoting critical analysis and deeper understanding of the challenges Myanmar is currently facing\,\nStrengthening a common understanding of the challenges and opportunities in forging a strong and unified response to help resolve the conflict in Myanmar and in developing strategies and approaches to building a new Myanmar\, and\nBringing together stakeholders from diverse backgrounds\, including elected representatives\, government officials\, EAOs/EROs\, international non-governmental organizations (NGOs)\, civil society organizations (CSOs)\, diaspora groups\, women and youth groups\, rights groups\, media\, academics\, etc. to strengthen a path to achieve a unified vision and strategy.\n\nThe program will include keynote speeches and panel presentations of academic papers. Musical and cultural performances will also be featured. \nExpected outcome of the conference includes generation of innovative ideas that help inform a common vision for a new Myanmar and provide strategic priorities and policy guidance for the democracy movement as well as help find solutions to the ongoing conflict in the country in the short term and the long-term development\, peace\, and prosperity for a new Myanmar. \nThis hybrid event – February 11-12 hosted virtually\, and February 14 organized in-person in Indianapolis – will draw hundreds of youths\, students and friends of Myanmar from around the world. The conference will bring together local\, national\, and international actors from diverse backgrounds. Its outcome will play a critical role in shaping the strategic direction and vision of the Myanmar democracy movement and the future of Myanmar as we contribute to building a democratic and federal Union of Myanmar. The conference objectives are: \nConference objectives: \n\nPromoting critical analysis and deeper understanding of the challenges Myanmar is currently facing\,\nStrengthening a common understanding of the challenges and opportunities in forging a strong and unified response to help resolve the conflict in Myanmar and in developing strategies and approaches to building a new Myanmar\, and\nBringing together stakeholders from diverse backgrounds\, including elected representatives\, government officials\, EAOs/EROs\, international non-governmental organizations (NGOs)\, civil society organizations (CSOs)\, diaspora groups\, women and youth groups\, rights groups\, media\, academics\, etc. to strengthen a path to achieve a unified vision and strategy.\n\nThe program will include (1) keynote speeches\, (2) expert panels\, (3) panel presentations of academic papers\, and (4) roundtable discussions. Musical and cultural performances will also be featured. \nWith a theme of “Strengthening a Unified Response with Coordinated Strategies to Support Peace and Democracy in Myanmar\,” this conference panel and roundtable discussions are will cover the topics and core issues including: 1) Bottom-up Federalism Building through Constitution Design\, 2) the Role of the International Community and Geopolitics in Supporting Peace and Democracy\,  3) International Sanctions\, 4) Humanitarian and Development Aids for Myanmar including Education and Health\, and 5) Democratic Institutions and Capacity Building. \nExpected outcome of the conference includes generation of innovative ideas that help inform a common vision for a new Myanmar and provide strategic priorities and policy guidance for the democracy movement as well as help find solutions to the ongoing conflict in the country in the short term and the long-term development\, peace\, and prosperity for a new Myanmar. \nThis hybrid event – February 12-13 hosted virtually\, and February 14-15 organized in-person at the Campus of Indiana University-Indianapolis – will draw hundreds of youths\, students and friends of Myanmar from around the world. DESCRIPTION:First of all\, I THANK GOD for this Day. I am truly humbled by this award. This honor is a recognition of the entire Burmese community\, all our friends and all our partners. \nWe are grateful to the American people\, and our Hoosier neighbors for welcoming us and allowing us to start our new lives here in this land of freedom and opportunity. \nBut\, it was also our shared interest and clear conviction that guided us to empower newcomers to become self-sufficient\, productive and contributing citizens of society as quickly as possible. To me\, this is the Power of Unity. \nWe are deeply appreciative and profoundly thankful to our state and national leaders for creating and fostering a policy environment in which everyone is welcome\, and treated equally with respect and dignity. That to me also is the type of UNITY I believe Dr. Martin Luther King envisioned. \nThe progress and positive impact we see today in our shared communities is a testament to the partnerships we have forged together. Coming together like this cohesively in harmony is for me the Unity we all want to embrace and celebrate. \nAllow me to say this also. Where there isn’t full Unity\, our freedom may be impaired with fear\, and we therefore would not be fully free. Then struggle for democracy might never end. This is especially true in societies and countries like Myanmar where a civil war rages as we speak. \nBut I tell my community\, our people\, “We DO NOT Take Things for Granted. For freedom comes with responsibilities. Equality is best achieved when everyone is given opportunity\, and in America\, everyone can dream the American dream because\, in fact\, that opportunity is given freely.” \nAs we move forward\, with the theme of the power and future of Unity\, I sincerely look forward to strengthening our partnerships\, and collaboratively working with you the ICRC\, Mr. Wilson\, Honorable [Governor Bruan]\, Lieutenant Governor\, and all Hoosiers for humanity and for greater good. We are thrilled to invite all community members and friends to attend a night of Culture and Entertainment on Friday\, July 26th from 5pm-9pm at CEBC Life Center. \nWe will have various forms of entertainment\, featuring live music\, dances\, and cultural shows\, including all ethnic of Myanmar fashion to demonstrate our unity in diversity. \nThere will be a Miss Myanmar contest where many of our beautiful young women will be participating. We will be crowning a new Miss Myanmar in this 2nd Miss Myanmar Pageant.  \nDelicious food of Burmese and ethnic Myanmar such as Mala Xiang Guo (မာလာရှမ်းကော)\, Biryani (ဒံပေါက်)\, Air-Fried Pork (ဝက်သားကင်)\, and many more will be available for purchase. Food tables where you can eat with your family members will be set up for you.
