BACI Honored by AAA with an Outstanding Partner Award

INDIANAPOLIS, May 11, 2024 — Burmese American Community Institute was honored as an Outstanding Partner by the Asian American Alliance at its 25th anniversary celebration in Indianapolis.

“We are truly honored and humbled by this recognition”, said Elaisa Vahnie, Executive Director of BACI. “The collective successes towards our shared goals that continue to bring positive impact upon our shared community are a direct result of the innovative and collaborative partnership we have forged together”.

Governor Eric J. Holcomb, Governor of the State of Indiana, proclaimed last July to be Burmese American Community Month, recognizing the contributions and achievements of the Burmese living in Indiana as the community. He noted that Burmese Americans have been actively contributing to the state’s economy, high educational performance, and vibrant cultural diversity thereby continuing to enrich Hoosier communities across the state and making Indiana a better place for all.

BACI Executive Director Mr. Vahnie was featured as one of the most accomplished Asian American leaders in 2022 by the City of Indianapolis.

AAA held the Asian Festival at the Indiana Historical Society in conjunction with Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month (AAPIH), which recognizes and honors the contributions, achievements, and influence of Asian Americans and Pacific Islander Americans (AAPI) who have shaped the culture and history of the United States.. ###
