Summer Programs
Upward College Summer Scholars Program
BACI Upward College Summer Scholars Program help prepare the youth to succeed in the academic while at the same time helping solve some of the most pressing issues and problems confronting the local community with a global perspective through a scientific method of research—Participatory Action Research.
During the whole summer, our Youth Scholars in this program engage in intensive and high research activities, leadership development activities, developing critical thinking skills, analytical skills, problem solving skills etc., to help solve some of these real problems through this scientific inquiry, data driven policy recommendation, with solution oriented approach—producing knowledge and effecting sustained change for the common and the greater good.
The Program has been implemented since 2012 every summer. Applications are usually released in early Spring on BACI website.
“One of the best ways to ensure that we are becoming productive and contributing citizens of the society is by investing in people and education,” our Executive Director Elaisa Vahnie would usually tell our partners, parents, and community members.
College Prep and Leadership Development Program (CPLDP)
Added to our summer programming in 2017, BACI College Prep and Leadership Development Program (CPLDP) is designed for area high school students who wish to prepare better for college and success. This highly interactive, fun program, focuses on four core areas of learning and engagement: Leadership development, College Admission Preparation (SAT/ACT prep, narrative essay composition, resume building), Community and Volunteer Service, and Educational Field Trips as for both learning and personal enrichment activities. CPLDP uses the same application with the Upward College Summer Scholars Program. To apply, see the application above.
