Myanmar Initiative
In our effort to help the people of Myanmar with its reforms, development, and peace — especially through education, policy tools, and a collaborative effort — BACI has already been working inside Myanmar since 2014.
Some of the ongoing projects include:
- Myanmar Scholars and Leaders Program (graduate)
- English and Leadership Development Program (undergraduate)
- Scholarships for Myanmar (information sharing and mentorship based) e.g. www.edu4Myanmar.org – Facebook Page: Scholarships for Myanmar (undergraduate and graduate)
- College Coach/Counsellors and Leadership Training at High Schools in Myanmar (train the trainer model)
- College and Universities Curriculum Development in partnership with US Universities and Faculty members
- Capacity Building and Professional Development
- Strategic Leadership Development Fellowship (SLEAD)
- Designed for Faculty members at Colleges and Universities
In addition, we also connect and facilitate partnerships and collaborations. One example of successful facilitation include $70 million USAID funded LASER Long-term Assistance and SErvices for Research (LASER), the project led by Purdue University in partnership with the University of Notre Dame and Indiana University Bloomington where BACI has a privilege of bringing a University and stakeholders in Myanmar to the project.
Through the Myanmar Initiative, we work closely with Myanmar Ministry of Education (MOE), National Education Policy Commission (NEPC), Rectors’ Committee, Colleges and Universities, Collaborative Initiative for Change and Development (CICD), and other partners in Myanmar in partnership and with the support of the U.S. Embassy in Yangon, USAID and others.
