Programs

Advocacy Program: BACI advocates for successful integration of newcomers through education, employment, naturalization and civic engagement, refugee protection, the advancement of the Burmese-American community, as well as through supporting peace and democracy in Myanmar.

Civic and Community Engagement Program: We work with the community members and partners, creating avenues, such as cultural festivals, special engagement events, voters education talks and others thereby increasing citizens participation and civic engagement activities.

Civic and Cultural Education Program: We provide English & Citizenship classes and assist newcomers with their naturalization process, including filing forms N400, G-28 etc. as well as help the community members to become civically engaged citizens.

Employment & MicroEnterprise Development Program: We assist newcomers with their employment, training, and give small business start-up assistance as they become self-sufficient. This allows them to give back to their communities and contribute to economic growth.

Inform, Navigate, Direct You (INDY): We help newcomers with their integration process and, in effort to meet their needs, by connection and information sharing through various channels, including newsletter, email mailing list, social media, referrals, and others means.

Special Projects: BACI collaboratively works with service providers and partners to implement the special projects that benefit the community. They include research projects, service projects, integration projects, citywide, statewide, nationally and internationally.

Summer Programs: CRLD is a highly interactive, fun program which focuses on four core areas of learning and engagement, while the Scholars Program focuses on a scientific method of PAR research—solution oriented policy action.

Technical Assistance Program: We help small businesses, faith-based organizations, and community-based organizations with their organization’s registrations, organizational development, bylaws, business plans, program designs and more.

Upward College Program: The Upward College Program is an innovative year-round program with a comprehensive program design that assists area high school students with their college readiness and success.

Community Health and Wellness Program: To help address the emerging needs in the community particularly in light of the aftermath of COVID-19 pandemic, the Community Health and Wellness Program (CHWP) was launched in October 2022. CHWP promotes a healthy community and the wellbeing of members of the community by helping address the issues surrounding mental health, behavioral health, physical health, social emotional health and others.

Basic Needs Assistance: we help members of the community with their needs in the areas of housing, transportation, nutritional food and health.

Refugee Resettlement Programs: Our resettlement programs give families a new start in Indiana. We join a welcoming community in the USA since 2021 to resettle Burmese, Afghans, Ukrainians, humanitarian parolees and refugees around the world to new neighbors in Indiana reflecting the Hoosiers’ hospitality and the American leadership.  

BACI Comprehensive Service — covering education, health, social services — was hosted in 2016 at Southport High School with more than 300 attendance as part of the 5th year of advocacy, education and service.
