February 12, 2020 marks the 73rd Anniversary of the signing of Panglong Agreement in 1947 in Myanmar (also known as Burma). For the fourth year, Burmese American communities in Indianapolis and their friends are joining their counterparts inside Myanmar and in the diaspora around the world in honoring this historic political achievement for Myanmar and its people, to share and celebrate cultural diversity, and historical heritage; whereby promoting a greater understanding among receiving and incoming communities, as well as reaffirming their support for federalist democracy, freedom, and equality in Myanmar based on the Panglong spirits and principles; and providing moral and other support for the ongoing National Reconciliation & Peace Process — 21st Century Panglong — towards comprehensive Constitutional reforms, inclusive economic development, and prosperity in the Southeast Asian Nation.

Congressman André D. Carson, the U.S. Representative for Indiana’s 7th congressional district, and Joseph Hogsett, the 49th Mayor of Indianapolis will be speaking at the event, while Senator Todd Young will share his greeting through a video.
