Nominate for a Youth Ambassador

Why become the Youth Ambassador of the Burmese Community in the USA? A simple answer is you will be part of an effort to build a stronger, mutually supportive, vibrant, and successful community. The Ambassador will represent his/her state and/or region and engage with various stakeholders locally, nationally and internationally as well as in his/her academic and professional development. Some of the benefits of being a Youth Ambassador include:

1. Conference and Networking: The Burmese American Community Institute will invite the Youth Ambassador to a few conferences every year (regional, national, intentional ones) and allow them to network and build connections among their peers, colleagues, community leaders and professionals in Burmese community and with the BACI network of comprehensive stakeholders internationally in the US, Burma/Myanmar and around the world. This can foster professional relationships that will aid them in their college journey and beyond.

2. Access to Mentors: By becoming a Youth Ambassador of the Burmese Community, students will obtain access to a network of mentors. They will have access to various types of mentors, such as college students, graduate students, or mid-level professionals or practitioners. Mentors are extremely willing to help them with any educational and professional questions they might have. Students will be connected with a mentor(s) based on their academic and future professional interests.

3. Scholarships and Fellowships Opportunities: BACI regularly posts valuable resources and information helping students identify and apply for college scholarships and graduate fellowships. BACI provides links to many scholarship opportunities for individuals of Burmese origin.

4. Collaborative Opportunities: By being nominated to be a Youth Ambassador of the Burmese Community, students will have the opportunity to collaborate with other members both on the individual and institutional level, throughout their community on projects of shared interests.

5. Internship, Volunteer, and Job Opportunities: With the assistance of BACI, students will have access to internship and volunteer opportunities in their local communities and beyond, e.g with Federal Government Agencies, International Institutions, etc to further growth in fields of their interests.

6. Letter of support: In support of their continued academic and professional success, BACI and/or the MSPNUSA will be happy to provide a letter of support upon request for the Youth Ambassadors.

All high school seniors or recent high school graduates of Burma/Myanmar origin residing in different states and regions across the US are eligible to be nominated. Up to 9 nominees will be finally selected fairly represented from different regions.
